The Houthi group has started to privatize a number of public schools under the pretext of community participation. These procedures violate the law of public education in Yemen which ensures that education at all levels is free and guaranteed by the state.

The new rule of the Houthis privatizes two schools in each district, one for boys and another for girls. Moadh Bin Jabal school for boys and Asma’a school for girls are two of the selected schools where the Houthis charge students fees of 65.000 YR for primary level and 95.000 YR for secondary level to enroll in the schools.
